Wow... Can't wait to see how that turns out! Looks like a very interesting project... Reminds me way too much of the Green Goblin, though! :p

I just don't think many Japanese mask makers had him in mind, maybe... :p

I suspect its the other way around.. that the GG and other comic-book masks may have been drawn from the (I think its) "oni" masks of Mempo and other artistic renderings.

Although that's a good theory, I don't think it could be right. Spiderman, and most other American superheroes, are just that... American creations. The influence Japanese armor would have had on the guys making that stuff up oh so many years ago probably wasn't too great.

Nowadays, it would be different. With so much of our animated television and even comic titles pouring out of Japan, that's much more likely!

I remember helping Sean teach John some of the very basics of armouring. And I cringe at the thought of some of the horrible pieces we created.

Yes, John is talented* but think of how many hours he has worked on honing that talent. That is the crucial difference. Perfect practice makes permenant.

John now has around 7 or 8 years of working on it regularly (not full time but more than most of us with this hobby.)

*OK he's VERY talented but we don't need him to get too big an ego.(Hey Gruber)

John Gruber with an ego... I do not think the world could handle him if he went and found himself an ego!

Excellent work John! Keep it up!

Hey, don't forget me! I helped on that... Yeah, more like I got in John's way while he was trying to work on it! LOL.

He actually did let me beat on one of the cheek pieces for a few minutes. Until he saw how horrible I was (LOL- not really, I actually moved it in the right direction).

I also did the cutting out of the cheek pieces and making the pattern from the Nissan Cast.

Not trying to take anything away from Gruber- he is about 1,000,000 times better than me, but I'm learning. Just wanted to sneak in on his glory a tiny bit! LOL.

Nissan, that thing is going to rock!
