Hello.
I have just been glossing over my "Eyewitness Book of Knights" (however ridiculous that may seem). On the page about putting on armour, there are photos of a knight being armed in a late-15th century harness. The couters are said to be attached by way of lacings on the arming doublet's elbows, through hole in the couter, and tied together on the outside, with a buckle tied on the indise of the elbow. Is this how it was done? the book might be a bit dated, so I'm not sure whether this is acurate.

Its just a simple elbow strap to hold the couter down in place.
Here are some couters I have done.
