yeech.. I'd rather stick with the "old type", if they were my only choices and even THAT is uglier than blankenwhatsits produce.
But.. wonder if it can be done thin enough to do a StormTrooper rig? (and smooth enough.. that vaccuformed ST armor is smooth)

Awww, you can't get better trooper armor that vacuformed! Besides, that's the way ILM did it...

That's the way the Glactic Empire made them, too. Havn't seen 'em stop a shot yet.
I'm not entirely sure if I like it or not. I dislike the plastic concept in general, but if it was done well, it might not be too bad. Well, it might not look too bad, I mean.

Sorry, but I've worn carpet armour that looked even better than that. (Over 10 years ago, mind you)

It probably all depends on the mold..

That had the word fiberglass in the instructions.... Fiberglass is EVIL!!!
Fiberglass killed my pet dog and told my mom she had a big bum, Fiberglass took my dad's job and ran over my bike, Fiberglass took my uncle's leg and touched my sister in the no no spot on the first date. Fiberglass and I will never hang out again.
If i was going to use plastic i would use plastic styrene.

Yeah well fiberglass killed me just to watch me die!!
I totally I agree with the fiberglass being a no no, I know guys who used to make boats out of the stuff...totally killed thier lungs, plus if it gets cold it get brittle.

Notice the battle pictures on the side... which appear to be SCA events in which probably few to none of the fighters are wearing said product. Gotta love deceptive advertising...

Ye gods. It looks like spraypainted plaster. And it doubles as a body cast after your opponents beat you to a pulp for insulting their battlefield by wearing such ugly crap...
The funniest part is that they actually want $185 for it. "Some assembly required," too.

I especially like the picture of that old man cackling while holding the armor up to his chesticles. I can imagine the caption now..."We'll fool a whole new generation into thinking that plastic armor is okay!"
Evil jerk.

Yuck. Yuck, and $185 to boot.
If you have to do something that nasty, at least use kydex or ABS, or at worst barrel plastic, that stuff really won't break, and depending on how you mold it (or use it in a CoP) it could actually look good.
EEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Scary stuff and he wants to charge for it!

If I only had the 100,000 dollars for tooling I would set up a nice injection molding process that would rock the armor world. But, I don't have that much money, and I am sure that someone would have a problem with it
Hey Alaric
