The second edition of Paul Blackwell's (Master Paul de Gorey) Basic armouring book can be downloaded from www.brighthelm.org. He is the guy that wrote the Butted mail makers guide. It covers the basics, and has plenty of patterns.

If you look at the photos page and let the Really Cool Heavies event pics load, he is the one in the Fat Guy's tabard. (I am in the last fighting pic (with the Maunch on the shield).

Ok first off no way in hell are you gonna get a file that big through hotmail.

Anyway on to the book (which I downloaded just fine after I typed the url for the site into my browser directly.)

I just took a quick flip through. Here's what I have to say about it so far.

First the illustrations are absolutly fantastic. I LOVE the artist's style please send my compliments. (BTW I'm an artist professionally.)

It looks like there's a ton of information in this thing. That's just from taking a quick flip through.

I noticed that there are a bunch of blank pages that have headers and page numbers but nothing on the pages. Is that something screwed up on my end or is it supposed to be like that. I don't think I want to be missing any of this really nice looking book.

Anyway lucky for me we've got this neat little machine at work for binding proposal books. So it looks like I'm gonna have to print the whole thing out and bind it up and add it to my library.

Seems like a fantastic book. I've still gotta actually take a good look at it though.

Please send a thank-you to the author for me.

Also I have a feeling the ISP that's hosting the site with the book is going to be very upset at the amount of bandwidth that's going to be used in the next few days.

From what I can see, the blank pages are for layout purposes, should you print the book out double-sided.

I should have said that you need Acrobat 5 to see the book. The blank pages are for double sided printing.

The L plates were a silly thing for the event. It was a 4 day training sesion with Baron sir Sagan.
