My first time here. I am looking for a belt design to hold up my leggs. Any patterns out there?

Thanks

Are you looking for something period or not? I personally wear a military combat belt and then my shirt hangs out a bit to cover it. It lets the weight hang right on my hips (which is a lot since they are 3/4 12ga.)

If you want a more period, and frankly much more comfortable and effective means of keeping your armor up, try a pourpoint. There's some good guides online here:

If you're just looking to get on the field, and not worried about period, then any thick all-leather belt will suffice, but there's one important point:

Do NOT fit your legs so that the belt sits on your waist. You WILL regret that. It digs into your hipbones.

The belt should sit lower, on your hips - when you put it on it should feel like it's hanging on your butt.

If you want something more permanent, then many people choose to make a conical-shaped belt that still sits on your hips. The leather would be about 4" wide or so, and wouldn't tend to dig in as much as a thin leather belt.

But neither is very authentic.
