Looking for a good shield edging, I saw some at Pennsic, but I don't know what it was called. It was some type of aluminum covered with plastic or rubber. Does anyone know what this is?

it was most likely a T6 aluminium shield with somehting called heater hose on. form what little i know about SCA shields, it is the hose found in and around your engine. correct me if i'm wrong.

i heard that garden hose with a slice in it then attached to the edge with leather laces, or what ever, works. i don't know if this is what you are talking about tho, and i haven't tried this method myself

Car door edging is a fine addition to the impact edge of a shield. A light hose, then a securely canvased cover over the whole and you have a nifty shield with no embarrassing hoses hanging all over it.
Many years ago Sir Ariel and I purchased some conveyer belt impact edging from Granger. Its basically a heavier gauge version of the car door edging. Just recently the edge I put on my shield in 1992 has begun to split on the top. Not a bad run...
Hard to find, but Granger should still carry it.
