I wonder what the rivets are supposed to do, besides making it harder to polish?

One would guess that they are to hang some sort of suspension from. Looks like they are to high up to do that. Yes they would get in the way of a good polishing but I do not think it will help the looks.

Yeah, this is a Windlass mass-produced piece I think. I have never liked it...it looks...wrong. Wrong shape...too shallow. Typical Indian result...decent craftsmanship and the right details, but the shape has been distorted or interpreted poorly, and the details are placed wrong. These craftsman show that they are able, but why is their "eye" often so off-target?

Like some of our newer armorers, they haven't looked at enough real pieces, or pictures of them to understand and comprehend what it is supposed to be. I doubt that they are making it because they 'love' armor, or even necessarily have an eye to noting the slight differences. They are probably give a picture or two, and told to make a bunch of them, quickly.

I am new and i do agree. As i start to build i realize more and more how off i am. So then i go back to my reference pics and "ahhh mines sweeping the complete wrong direction! opps" Defiantly not as easy as you masters make it look!!

It looks to me that they were working off of a description and not a picture of an origional.
