Well, here's a link to my gauntlet pic.

They're made from Clang's pattern here in the pattern archive. I mocked a proto up out of scrap and upscaled the pattern 10% for my clunky hands.
It's from 16 guage mild and I know it's good and rusty already. I plan to clean all that up and do a bit of decoration later, they'll get me closer to the field right now.

Thanks for all the great help and tips you woderfull bunch of nuts have provided me with in the last year or so. I'd never had thought I'd make things this cool but I'm as tickled as can be.

Not bad at all. Much nicer than my first attempt at gauntlets, which actually used the same pattern you did. What kind of rivets are holding it all together? They almost look like pop rivets but I'm looking at them on a bad monitor. If bolts are holding them together then I'd recommend letting the pieces soak in vinegar for a while (see Sasha's essay on removing rust and mill scale) and then polishing them.

So, what are you making next?

Thanks PoD, the rivets are actually 16d carpenters nails that I had laying around. The pieces I cut off them I bend and tack weld to make my buckles.

Next will be to finish up my legs (mostly done already) and then to make my bevour and helm. (Hopefully a lobstertail sallet) And then scrape up the cash for another sheet to do my plackart and backplate.

Hopefully I'll get a few more pounds of beeswax and heat blue the whole thing and seal it with the wax. Before that I'll take the arms back apart and dish them elbow way deeper.

The gauntlets look very good.

The elbow cop on your arm looks like it needs to be dished a bit deeper.
