How about an online joint effort?
Outline:
1) iron vs steel, historical context
2) cold and hot work properties of steel
3) heat treat and tempering: armour specific; in particular TTT diagrams and effects of quick cooling, without reaching quenching speeds.
4) finishing, maintenance
5) field experiences, comparison with mild?
