I ordered a helm from Beathan (armourandcastings) some time in december if I recall correctly. He was very prompt in his replies, the helm came a lot sooner than I expected (8 days from Ukraine to Arizona) and the price was unbeatable. Beathan this helm is so much more than I could have hoped for. You rule! I went from wearing the first helm posted, to the new one. He even put in a padded lining that fits perfectly. I look forward to doing business with Beathan in the future. Those bazubands are looking mighty tempting.

Very nice helm. Bargrill looks well solid - welds not the neatest, but solid!
Glad you've upgraded!
Saving for an SCA legal helm from A&C at the moment. (Already have non-SCA helm)

Oh I had a question though, I don't think the straps provided will comply with SCA regulations. What can I do to change those without having to tear out the whole strap?

That helm looks VERY familiar!
I say its a damn fine looking helm, whom ever designed it must be a right ingenius individual...
The chin strap for SCA combat is designed to keep the helmet from coming off your head in battle. Technically a strap under the chin will suffice. Now, the rub usually comes in if your nose touches/compresses against the grill when pushed on. that is why most go with a chin cup instead of just the strap. If you don't have that problem with the helm with the existing strap you should be fine.
Although I would suggest you modify your padding to allow the helm to sit lower on your head. Try letting it sit low enough for you to look out the top gap of the grill, just above the first grill bar. I think it will look better that way. YMMV

Thanks for the info Irish (and the helm design too btw, you rule) The helm actually does sit alot lower on my head, that's my little brother wearing it and he didn't put it on all the way. It sits to where if my head tilts back a little I look out of the second gap, and if I tilt my head down slightly I'm looking out the top gap. Thanks for the info on the chinstrap too. I'll have to test it out and see if it will work as it is. I don't want to have to change it.

I would add some felt padding on the cheek plates to keep the helm off your nose. Then your existing chin strap will be all you need.

I would second your idea of going for the Bazubands. I got a set from them and love em.
for the chin strap that is in the helmet, what I did with mine was to a a chin cup from an old football helmet that took care of the issue quite nicely.
all in all I would say that Armour and Castings is a great way to go for lower cost custom armour.
