Trying to find stakes

Someone had posted a review of a guy who makes stakes, both for hard metals and soft metals. The good gentleman emailed me a copy of his catalog.

I seemed to have lost it. Anyone know something more about this?

The hardened stakes ran about $35 each and came in variety of sizes.

I wouldn't buy the Contenti set [not enough in it that i couldn't easily make myself], but if I had a spare $500 laying around, not ear-marked for something else, the Alpha Supply set has some interesting shapes in it, that wouldn't be dead-simple to make myself.

If you have access to a welder (the person or the machine) then this is a lot easier. You dont need to look for stakes, you need to look for lumps of metal which are the shape you need or can be worked into that shape. Then weld a square shaft onto it. I've made a bunch of stakes this summer out of sections of thick walled pipe, heavy plate, ball hitches, etc. I wouldnt pay a lot for a flat plate on a square shaft. Like Gundo said, though, the more complex shapes could be worth it if you need that shape. Otherwise that'd be a lot of grinding.

I dont recall the guy's name who you're looking for, but he's a machinist/blacksmith who usually has some simple stakes on ebay.

Here is the email of a gentlemen who sent me a catalog of stakes. It may be the one you are talking about.

Hope this helps.

Hey Arland, i have quite a few pieces from the alpha supply page.
Gesswin are the make of mine, they look very similar.
I have not found much use for them in regards to working in the heavier ga the sca requires, but i have found them usefull for smaller projects
