if I were to make fingers for gauntlets, what would be the thinnest mild steel you'd reccomend for the job?

Actually I'm making the fingers out of metal and the reast out of leather. I'm gonna try and make the tips of the fingers touch the haft of the weapon and see where it goes from there. I've not done a lot witn metal so I might just be wasting my time. But I got it to waste, so why not

My finger gauntlets are 1050 hardened and tempered carbon steel 18 gauge.
I am the SCA's middle finger.
