I just came back from Montreal. had a wonderfull time and met a long time internet friend for he first time. Patrice who posts here now as Padrig. he has done quite a few pieces of armour for me and he surprised me with another one when I arrived!
let me say that this shield has had no backround research done on it by either one of us for authenticity. It is simply a peice I saw in the movie "Knights Tale " and mentioned to Padrig that I had liked it. He made it for me painted my families arms on it and I love it. It is to be strappd around the shoulder and again around the forearm. It is shaped to curve my arm and around my spaulders. It is a piece I will use to come on the field with but not to tilt with. I could though since he made it out of 16 G stainless! and rolled the edges as well.
I just wanted to show the archivers here some nice work. I have already contacted some early period jousters to see if this kind of shield did exsist and what period if it did.
Many thanks to Padrig!

Yes, Padrig does great stuff, I bought a 16 gauge stainless shield boss of him which is tough as hell and really nice. I'd recommend him.

Thanks everybody for the compliments. I am glad you like the shield Steve. I hope somebody will have some info on this kind of shield or "grandguard" sp? I believe it is called (correct me if I am wrong). I'd like to make other shapes eventually, more historically based.
