Any help would be appericated....
This is my first one:

It is cold worked with darts. The welding and grinding will be next week sometime.
What does the side view look like?
I looked at the one in A&Aof the MK book.

Hal

Ps: I used my new armoring weenie to get this shape....

That is a more pronounce profile than most I've seen, but it looks pretty good so far, Hal!

You've started one more than I have. ;-)
My 10yo daughter says I'm pretty!

I've always wanted to try a bevor, but they are just so intimidating for a novice like me.

Good luck, Halberds.

The side profile reminds me of the Swabisch Gmund bevor. projecting out a far way and being relatively flat under the chin.

This is stage 2:
Image
Now off to the welder.... I ground off the mill scale from hell... so the TIG torch and filler rod will have a better chance... I do not like slag pockets.....

Looks like I will be adding some breath holes.... per my clients request.
I will try to match the pattern on his helm.

So far I have a nice pattern of a generic bevor if you want.
Some help on the straps and buckles would be nice.

I for one would like to see the pattern. The darts thing sounds interesting.

I gave up on the darts.... I started over and made this one with a two piece chin thing.
One starts out like a standard gorget chest piece.... Roll the neck edge to make a weld flange.

The face part looks sort of like a knee. Make it from two pieces... shape and weld the center seam.
Pound and trim it to fit the flange on the chest piece.
Clalmp then weld it all together.

This is what it looks like on the inside before welding.

I will roll the edge after it is welded.

Note the rough weld inside. That is my gas welding.... now you know why I go to the pros to get any welding done.

I had it tig welded and It held up with me pounding on it. My crappy gas welds cracked. Back to the tig for the final fix.

This is it so far, before the breath holes...

Hal

Ps: Do the straps go on the outside or the inside of the metal?

I think I am ready for the straps and breath holes.
The welder at work TIG'ed it up very well.

So far I have some changes in mind... before releasing the general pattern to the forum.

Hal

Ps: Harbor Freight deep throat punch sucks.... The die threads do not work....
I will have to end up drilling this sucker... Ya get what you pay for...

Very nice Hal!

Send me a PM with the total of how much I owe. Dont forget to include the price for the helmet that I won in the auction!
