Hehe... looks like it will take a trip to Estonia and get your domain back!

I guess you could send the guy an e-mail and ask nicely.

The guy is probably sitting on it waiting for you to contact him... so he can make some cash off of it.

Good luck!

Here is an idea that may be better for everybody -
patent your techniques,
Publish a book
Use the proceeds to come up with even more infrastructure, and produce even better mail, faster.
Then we can all screw around with your book, get frustrated, and get some mail from you.

This coming Sunday (the 25th) I am having a few people over to get this started. If you would like to attend, please contact me.

Mark,

For one thing, patenting the techniques is too expensive and two I do not think it is possible.

Same here, but i think i'll hold off a little while!

Well, it's now Sunday and here I sit all alone...:? Perhaps I should re-phrase this request and add a few more details. As I said earlier, this is to be a mass-production endeavor. Think of the apprentice phase as something like boot camp. It is where I figure out if the apprentice is genuinely interested in this subject matter. If they are, then they stand to make money. How much depends on them and their work ethic. If not... Oh well. Their loss.

Now, again, if there is anyone living close to me and are truly interested in this, please contact me. This is your chance to help make history.

What styles of maille are you going to specialize in?

Just about everything from pre-Rome into the 16th century. Even getting into the Middle Eastern styles eventually.

Yes, a backlog. One that will be filled in about a week once this takes off I might add. What is your point?

I wouldn't give up on the idea of such a workshop for quite a while -- try doing it again, and working on correspondents harder to get solider commitment. This seems a very worthwhile thing.

this seems way too important and awesome to let it slip through the cracks.
-hey Mr.Schmid will you be at the mn renfare this year exibiting your mad skills again this year?

Hey Reid,

No, I have not given up on the workshop. I actually have a couple of people being trained right now. I did not expect a massive amount of people to be interested in this anyway. Besides, I am only looking for extremely dedicated people anyway.

Emerald,

I will most likely not be at the Minnesota Ren Fair this year. However, if I am I will not be at A&A's booth anymore. If I find a new spot I will let you know.

The price list is being sorted out right now. Pieces will be priced by the square inch and every one will be custom tailored to the individual. As it stands right now, the prices look to be roughly seven to eight times less than my current prices. This is not yet set in stone however, as there are a couple of things that need to be figured in yet.

Suffice it to say that the new prices will be substantially lower than my current ones. I am looking to have the price list completed in the very near future. At that time I will also be revealing a few of the items I will be offering. As a teaser I will say that some of them are going to be quite shocking. To be a tad more specific, some of these items will be a combination of mail and fabric. I will say no more.

Erik,

I'm wondering if your still looking for apprentices? And how far is too far away. I live just south of Rochester, so only about 3 hours away. And what kind of commitment are you looking for, (time wise)?

I heard about your new shop a couple of weeks ago. Congratulations.

Keep an eye out on the GDFB site for updates. We are looking at starting production late Fall.

PS. Still looking for apprentices if anyone is interested.

I'd be interested in getting one also. I guess the thing to do is wait.
