Ok i've gotte 3 coats from Klaus so far.

#1 was the hemp coat, the kinda white one i've posted pics of

#2 the black one that i've posted here before.

Now comes Daaa

Green one!!!

Little different, closed with points not puffy buttons

and it's not particularly padded.

It fits just fine, Klaus is good at dat. In fact i was kinda happy that the waist is a weee bit loose! So i'm lets gutty than when i did the pattern.

The leg points are in the right spot.

I wore it on a blisteringly hot day (for Wisconsin) i was glad that i did not need an extra layer to hold up my legs, i was also glad of the lack of insulation. The elbows being padded would have been nice, the lower abdomen would have been nice too.

Theonly problem i ran into was the hemp points. Once they got sweaty they swelled and locked closed. Now thats great as far as them coming undone but they had to be pulled loose with plyers to get the knots open to take it off.

Movement is good (as usual) armour stays in place and the points are in the right places.

Klaus hits th mark again with hie "gilded boar arming coats"

:D :) :D

I am rarely silly.

But if you really wanna get me naked
then i would go with worried more than silly as the emotional state.

Murdock, thanks for the feedback. That's good to know about the hemp twine- I hadn't thought about the sweat effect. I took the liberty of trying some experiments with this coat since it's kind of a bonus anyway, and that was one of them. I'll send you some replacements made of the usual cotton cord. As far as the body padding goes, keep in mind that you originally wanted this one to have no padding at all... :P If you're wearing your floating Chartres arms with this, you can probably get away with a very thin layer of foam inside the couters (cut a "Pac-man" shape so it folds into a cone).

The forearms on the new-and-improved black coat aren't padded either, so I'll see if I can whip up some fabric-covered elbow pads that can either be removed or laundered, maybe that can be pointed on through eyelets with the same set of points holding on your couters. Overall, the black one is coming along nicely; I'm still on schedule to get it to you before Pennsic, or at the worst, to send it to Max at Northstar Armory c/o the Coopers for you to pick up at his booth. Will you be going for both weeks, or just war week, or what?

If you have any action photos of you in the green, get 'em up here. I also took some static pics of the coat on the mannequin that I can post, but I was waiting until you had field-tested it before I started bragging.

...and Jehan, have patience... (nearly) every coat I make turns out better than the last one. By the time I get around to yours, Murdock's will probably all be in tatters from the amount he fights and you'll look like you stepped right out of a manuscript. :)
