OK this the first piece of mangled metal i have ever attempted. I got with Halberds a month or so ago and picked up his NEWBIE TOOL KIT slimed down eddition. I needed to make or buy my kid a hat for SCA youth combat. I opted for make. A couple of road signs and Hals tool kit and this is the result. please go easy on me its a first piece. the only other armour stuff has been leather and lamallar. neither counts as far as bending metal goes.

Specifics - its aluminum (YC helm and all); copper rivits; brass pretty stuff; all riveted construction (and it rings like a bell - i took that as good -no?)

the eye brows are not attached yet as they still need to be etched.

Nice hat, Adric. Now when are we going to see the kid actually out at practice fighting? Or you for that matter?

Shape looks pretty darn good for a first attempt, i think you've shaped the metal pretty well. I would have put bars below the occulars though, but thats me.

That's a nice try.

I'm not into the SCA stuff, but seems to me you can do even better than this one...

Keep it on!

I like it, you have done well grasshopper.
I bet the stop sign never dreamed of becoming a helm....
You have a lucky son.

We are looking forward to seeing more of your stuff now.
Did you use the salt water and battery etch method?

Hal
