Looking for pauldron w/haute-garde pics

Post by Therion »

I'm tired of wimpy little horseshoe-crab spaulders passing themselves off as pauldrons ... got a friend who's going to make some pauldrons for me, and what I'd like is a huge, magnificent set with big upstanding haute-gardes (whoa, taken out of context that sentence sounds obscene) ...

Anyway, we're looking for patterns and inspirational pictures. We want the rig to look like something out of Boorman's Excalibur, but period-big rather than fantasy-big. Tips and clues and URL's welcome.

Take a look at truehearth's custom page. Can't remember if they're on there but he did a really nifty set that I got to see first hand.

Yeah, Carlo (from truehearth), made me a really slick pair a year or so back. You can see pics of them on my msn communities page...

http://groups.msn.com/armourpics/forsale.msnw?Page=2

there are about 5 pages of pics of my old harness... but page 2 had the pauldrons pics. They were gorgeous... they're not on correctly in the pictures, but you still get the idea.

Yeah, they are pretty big... probably the part of the harness that was hardest to let go. he got them EXACTLY the way I wanted 'em.

<sniff>

irony is - I'm just about to start SCA heavy fighting.. I could have USED that suit!

:P

not effectively, of course...

Here are a set I had made from 16 G stainless. They are modeled after Nigel Terrys in Excalibur. They needed one more articulation up around the neck. Other than that they worked really well.
