Ok, I'm all excited and this might be premature but I was chatting with one of the armourers from Valentine recently and there was a mention that the Beverly Co. patent on the throatless shears is either running out in 2 months or has run out 2 months ago. If this is true then the concept is up for grabs to any manufaturer (and by concept I don't mean cheap imitations like the HF one but good ones since patents will probably include info on heat treatment of the blades, detailed plans of the head stock and cam plates, etc.)
It might be that we won't have to spend so much for our cutting needs in the future.
