Shield grip from Dura Europos

I remember seeing an iron grip for an oval late-Roman shield in the Dura Europos book, but I can't find my set of photocopies of selected pages from that book. I am doing a re-construction that I would like to enter in a contest in less than two weeks so I can't just ILL it and wait for it to come in. Does anyone here have that book and would you be willing to scan a page or two for me?

Also, if there is any measurement of the size of the stitches holding the rawhide edge onto the shield I would like to see that. I'm guessing the holes should be about 1" in from the edge and about 1" apart but I'd like to check again before I start drilling.

If you haven't already done so, I'd suggest posting on the Roman Army Talk board:

http://www.romanarmy.com/rat/

Several folks there have the book. I borrowed it from a friend, briefly, a few months ago, and don't recall the answers you need. But my guess is that the holes for the stitching would be closer together and closer to the edge--half an inch, maybe? Don't trust me, though!

Good luck!! And please post some photos when you're done!

Vale,

Matthew

Thanks. I made a buckler with the linen and gesso facing and the rawhide edge as a prototype, and I have pitures of it here.
