Laceing a armoring jacket from top to bottom

When I start my shoe lace from top what do I do ? Do i make a knot? if so what kind of knot and I need pictures to see whats underneith and how do you tie it all together. this is all new for me ,Thank you to all that helps and please send lots of good pics,photos , :oops: :?

You could put a knot that is thicker than the eyelets you're lacing through at one end of the lace. That'll anchor it when you go through the first eyelet.

Do you have to start from the top for a reason? Seems easier to me to start from the bottom and lace UP. But then again, I have no idea what time period or culture you're talking about, so what do I know...? :P

Ah! I see. We all thought you were laceing the front from top to bottom.

As Tasha said: Tie a knot thicker than the eyelet and thread so that knot is on the inside of the top-most eyelet. Lace down and when you get to the bottom tie off and tuck inside if you like.

Personally, I don't like using one long lace for my purpoint, I find it bunches the coat top to bottom too much when I want to tork it down tight. Plus, it is harder to get different tensions at different locations. Try using multiple smaller laces like in this example:
