Hello, I’m looking for some information on sallets and up to now it hasn’t been a primary focus of interest so I’m lacking in some source material.

First question: I recall a blackened sallet that had (gilded? silver?) fleur-de-lis arrayed on the back. Does anyone remember where this helm was displayed and/or have any pictures of it?

Second question: Can anyone think of any blackened sallets that had latten or brass work, preferably including mottos? I recall that one of the painted salets had a painted motto but I’m looking for “blingâ€

Hello,
It's only 2 days but I'm going to <bump> this anyway. After talking to a friend I realize that I may have been picturing 2 different sallets in my mind and merging them. I've found good pictures of a reconstruction of a salet with nice painting of a sunburst and motto. That was a good start.

I'm not looking for pictures or references to a 'sallet covered in blue velvet', velvet may or may not be held in place with gilded fleur-de-lis, my memory is far from reliable. If anyone an direct me in the proper direction I would appreciate it.

Third question still stands: does anyone have a rough time-line for open faced sallet => sallet where eye slot is between skull and visor => sallet where eyeslot is part of the visor?

Thanks,
Sean
