helm strapping question

Post by caiusthevigilant »

During the off months ive been tinkering quite a bit. ive been using a piece of leather split in the middle for a chinstrap, while playing around some i tried some of my old fire helmet chinstraps that were laying around. Now i didnt expect to have them work well for me but when i put it on the helm i got a much more comfortable and more secure fit. The only problem i have is i dont know if its legal under the sca rules. i couldnt find anything specific in the rules but wanted to check. The strap is identical to the following

i put a small leather flap over the releases and one under to kind of hide it. it comes across the top of my chin and holds well in all directions including up. Not sure if thats legal and could use some advice. Thank you for any and all suggestions you can make

ps i put a similar strap in a holder and stood on it. somehow the yellow quick release held my weight (200) so it seems pretty strong

You should be quite legit. SCA Armor Standards don't call for anything other than an effective chinstrap, however configured or featured.
