just wunderin if i made a front plate and a back plate but not enuff metal to go around my waist would it work to have to metal strrips under the armhole fore the sides with chain mail to fill the gap or do i need to find a way to buckle and unbuckle the sides i dont know wether u slide on a breast polate like a shirt or buckle the sides this is my first armour so historical isnt importan yet any help would be grate full

i'd recomend against the chainmaille sides personally, i;d say belt it, or make hte front and back meet at the sides.

you COULD make it a pull over, but if it as 1 piece it woi;ld be really uncomfey and not fit well, and well, a 2 piece can be a real PAIN in teh ars to get over your head it it's deesigned wrong.

i'd say make it open up at one side so you just kinda slide it on from the side.

thanks i was just going to use two metal strips to hold the sides and use chain to fill in the space mainly for looks i would make the fronty and back meet but dont have a big enuff peice of metal othe than that i t should fit well just sliding it over long as i measure right lol

Rick, if it's SCA you're contemplating using this scanty breast-and-back for, fill in the sides with more plates. Hinge or strap them in. Don't use mail. Most SCA hits land upon your silhouette, not in your centerline.

normaly i just make weapons to hit trees with but wanted to try armour thats at least somewhat functionalmore looks than any thing
all i really do is pell work plus i like making stuff cheap my sword and 2 axes i maybe have $5 us one metal hafted hand axe and a 2 hander plus my short sword now i want to make armour just gonna be a pain with tin snips only to cut with
