How would you pattern the leather part of this gauntlet?

That depends on how you are building the gauntlets.....
Most of the Wisby examples have smaller metecarpal plates and little plates covering the rest of the back of hand. These have metecarpals that cover the whole back of hand.
These could be done with a simple conical piece of leather for the cuff rivetted under the edge of the hand plates.
For the other type, we cut a conical piece for the cuff and a piece that looks like the back and thumb part of the hand and sewed them together at the wrist.
I don't have pictures of those anymore....
The leather ends up looking like the patterns for welded hourglass gauntlets except the cuff is MUCH less flaired.
