This is two questions.

1. How do I "tie" a turban. Specifically one with a drape to cover my neck and face.

2. How would I attach it to my helmet for rattan fighting.

I want the turban to be "low profile" and to allow my helmet top (conical) to protrude from it.

Not sure which "style" turban you're looking for. There's differences say between Arabic and Persian and Indian.

On the second is a lower style that covers the top of the head. I'd just make a slit in the material and slip it over the helm. Use a couple of loops of dicreet wire to hold it on and use the drape in the back to pull over the shoulder and tie across the face at the temple.

Kinda cool idea ya gots. Let us know how it works out.

Well my kit is 11th cent Turk. This was when they ruled the area (after kicking ass at Manzikert and as they were starting the 1st crusade). It would be prior to when they became heavily "Arabicized" So I would say the best would be Persian.

They first turban in the first link would be too big. They second looks better. I just have to figure out how to attach a drape/veil.

If it is too much of a hassle, I will stick with a mail drape.

What you may could do is do a double twist with 2 colors of cloth and just wrap it a few times like a headband. Then just tie it off and attach it to the helm however you can figure out and where it hangs in the back just pull it around and drape it across the bargrill ala Lawrence of Arabia.

Ok, maybe not that great of a example.

Tournaments Illuminated issue #128 on the front cover is a picture of a guy who did half of what you are looking for. He did the lower half and its a nice way to hide the bar grills. as far as doing the top, I've tried it several times and I am not happy with any of the results. After I move I'm going to try velcro.
