What happened -- June 5-6 downtime

We had storms roll through the city on the 5th.
Apparently, something took out the modem/gateway I have for the Archive business-account. It claimed to be all right, but wouldn't recognize anything plugged into the "lan" side of the gateway.
Originally, we thought it was a burned out router on the lan side, but a new router showed the same problems.
Now (12:30 CDT on 6-June) I have the new gateway in place, and it's supposedly being initialized/activated/configured. I confess to being a bit worried, because it's not lighting up the LED that says that one of the lan-side ports is connected to a live box, nor does my router show that it's connected to anything on the WAN side of its interface.
Of course, by the time you see this, whatever the problem was will have been solved....
