Gladiator Helmet

My friend wants to make a Gladiator helmet, the one Maximus wears in the movie, so he asked me to make the patterns for it. Before I make them I wanted to ask here if any one has patterns for it, or can tell me where I can find them.
Thanks

Not worth your time, imho. King's Lance sells a nice copy on Ebay frequently. Very goofy helmet, but I liked the movie.

What is not worth my time? Making the pattern? I dont really care, because he said he would pay me, and I am not making it, he is.

Oswald,
Sorry, I misunderstood. If your friend wants to make it and you can do the pattern, then go for it! I think it will be a difficult pattern to make, though.

Thats ok. I know, it looks very hard to make. I am gonna try to convince him to make something a little easyier I think, because it will take him forever. Any suggestions?

A historically accurate Helmet is my first knee jerk response to that question.

I love the facemask on that particular helmet

I'd like to know how to make one, myself.
I'm not sure if EBay's a train I wanna jump on, if you know what I mean.

Oh that is easy. Do your pattern in poster boad and masking tape and cut it apart.
Make anything you want. When you un-do it then it is the pattern.
Happy patterning.

Better to just get the Faxtory-X/ Windlass one. I had my wife get it for me for a present. It is one of those things only a very patient, experienced armourer would want to tackle.

those helmets are a re-enforced plastic with a silvered finish. they used them in a knights tale as well. i am guessing then it would be hard to make a pattern for metal as it would be harder to cut and shape.

You mean the helmets worn in the movie, not the replicas they are selling, right?

499 Euros? I wonder what that would be in canadian dollars?

Aminata,
499 Euro is equal to about 800 CAN and abot 550 US. It's a nice helm but I can wait for the price to come down.

Screw that, I're seen it on by-the-sword.com and other places for a little over $200 US.
I would rather get it there, and I bet shipping time is much faster too.
