Thickness of brig. plates

Post by Shade »

Hi there,
i am currently starting a brigandine and was coming across the question: how thick were the plates in historical brigandines? I dont plan to use the brig in sca combat so the thickness to withstand brutal rattan bats is not a crucial point Image
thanks for your help

Hi Michael,

Most were pretty thin. 20 guage wouldn't be far off. On fancier ones with lung plates, the lung plates can be quite a bit thicker.
