place to find metal?

I will currently be a senior this coming school year and one of the things we are required to do to graduate is do something called a senior project and for my project i was looking at constructing Lorica Segmentata armour since i already do SCA and am in need of armor. and i was wondering if any one knew a webpage that would be good to purchase the metal for this armour from?

i don't know a webpage but try a local scrapyard they sometimes have bits big enough. it can get real chea as well rather than buying big sheets of the stuff. if you don't have a pattern there is one here on the archive or at www.larp.com/legioxx hope it helps. you will need brass as well. just thought i'd tell you in case you didn't know.

Yep. Scrapyards definitely sell steel for much cheaper than anywhere i've ever been. Seems like all you would need for a segmentata would be strips, so that won't be too hard to find. It's the big stuff (like a single piece breastplate) that is hard to get.
