Hey, I'm looking for a glue suggestion to attach thin leather or suede to the back of some besagews. First thing that comes to mind is some kind of contact cement. Anyone have a specific suggestion for a commercial product?

Thanks,

Diedrich/Waveicle

I've used 3M contact cement before successfully for a project like this. Unfortunately I can't remember the specific type I used.

I would think that any glue that was flexible and rubbery to some degree or other once cured would be the best bet.

Scuff or rough up the steel some to where the glue is going to stick, the 'scratches' will give the glue something to hang on to.

Any household cement that claims to bond both metal and porous materials.

Araldite :)

And as mattmaus said, before using any glue on metal, score or otherwise roughen the surface, it really will help the glue adhere.

I see that no one has recommended "gorilla snot" aka 3m weatherstrip adhesive

3m spray adhesive

on a side note I hope this is aluminum or stainless.
polishing around mild if its not taken care of will be a task.
