Lanotec and rust prevention

I may finally have found an acceptable rust block. Lanotec is basically lanolin-based, and is currently my favorite barrier. It has a number of laudable properities:

1) It applies like a light oil, but quickly dries into a clear grease that is slightly waxy to the touch.

2) Once it dries it doesn't seem to stain.

3) Its oder is not particularly offensive. It's a bit like handlotion, really.

4) Most importantly, it seems to have good staying power.

Has anyone else tried this stuff?

I'm not kidding folks, this stuff may what we have been looking for, unless anyone knows of any side effects.

So, where do you get it and can it be sprayed on?

Looks like they are Australian, so I wonder if you can get their stuff in the US.

It comes in either an aerosol or a pump spray bottle. Like I said: goes on like a light machine oil, congeals into an invisible waxy residue that doesn't seem to stain or get on your hands. The smell isn't bad. I don't know if you can get it in the states.

Noe:

I did an internet search, and could find no U. S. distributor for Lanotec.

I suppose one option is to ask the Aussies on the board about this or (barring that) trying to catch any of the Aussies that may attend Pennsic and asking them. I, for one, am very interested (as would be Bascot, who loves shiny steel, but hates polishing).

By way of comment, Noe...where'd you get your sample of Lanotec?

Tokyu Hands hardware store in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Admittedly, it might be a bit of a drive for some of you. Image

Yeah...the last time I was on that side of the pond, I was in the land of the Morning Calm...

How much does a container of Lanotec cost you over there...and would you be willing to ship some stateside (I assume you're there with the military, through an APO or FPO)? If so, my e-mail is in Profiles.

You definitely want to get it from an Aussie; one bottle over here ran me $25US. Since I don't have a military address, it woudl be another $10 bucks.

Glendour sells "Fluid Film", which is made of Lanolin, I'll call him and tell him to bring some to Pennsic.
