floating elbow cop ?

I currently trying to change my kit, i pulled a patern off the archive, my question is does the cop listed provide any protection for the top of the elbow i.e soft tissue, my preious cop for my sword arm(swithing it to the left, had semi rigid leather straps, but i didn't like the apperance of the brown staps, I tried a second type sent to me,but the metal covering greatly reduced my arm movements, any suggestons.
