Hello all, I decided that i would post the progress pictures of my next helmet to share with all of you. I cant wait to put it on and fight.

the man is a very talented artist.. The helmet is 12 guage mild skull and a 14 gauge stainless visor.

he still has a ton of work to do but its off to a great start :D and looks amazing. It will have a mirror finish and covered in brass strips with cut out hearts. He will also be doing my full arms out of spring steel.

That has got to be my favourite helm, I love the bellow like visor.

I'd love to see your whole kit when it's finished.

I agree, more photos would be cool.

the helmet includes 2 visors. This is the second visor, the death mask.. made out of 14 guage stainless steel.

the face visor looks sooo nice!!! i cant wait to see the whole helmet finished. And dam the man has got talent. thats a one peice raised face from stainless.

i am very proud to have such a great armourer who makes my gear. I would recommend him anyday.

(keep in mine both visors and the helmet are not near completion)

Why is he mixing mild and stainless?

good question, ill awnser it for you.. It was my call on the 2 materials, you see i wanted a strong skull with some mass to it so it would be able to take on live steel, sca, full contact jousting so anything you can throw at it.. at 12 guage mild. But the visors are done out of 14 guage stainless steel, now you see if i used 12 guage mild or 14 guage mild one is to heavy and the other is'nt quite as strong thats why i chose the stainless being stronger then 14g mild and lighter then 12g mild so in other words keeping the strength up and the weight down. Plus when it is mirror polished they will match and look exactly the same.

A whole helmet made out 14 guage stainless steel is strong but does'nt have the mass i want for full contact jousting and live steel that i can feel safe in.

a full 12 guage mild steel helmet would of been way to heavy for fighting on foot..

i thought about the horns and decided not to.. and the glasses are a big no no lol.

You should call it a close helm, instead of an armet. Armets operate like Delorians. ;)

Forgive my ignorance but I always thought that raising anything from stainless would negate the properties that make it stainless.

Would someone be able to clear this up for me?

Edit:Other than that, the helm looks gorgeous

Wow what a beautiful helm.
Your armourer wouldn't be Ugo would it?

You are a lucky bastage you know that.

Thank you for the pics.
