i was thinking of doing an essay of the construction of my late 15th century german suit. was wondering what the criteria were for it to be a valid one. all i can think of is lots of detail and instructions plenty of pictures as well.

What i always enjoy in a good armouring article are good pictures, good how-to pictures (I.E. rivets, articulation points, etc.), and a well thought out description. Spelling is also a must. Misspelling a word really sets me off and gets my mind more on the misspelling rather than the actual article. Diagrams, measurements, and what tools to use, and what you can substitute if you don't have the right ones. I can't really think of anything more than that.

An armoring essay could easily be done as a photo essay, with text that describes anything that is not, or cannot be clearly seen in the pictures.
I find most text only essays to be pretty useless.
