Brian W. Rainey - RE: A matter of scale...

Post by Templar Bob/De Tyre »

Brian:

You’ll remember the scale armour I brought to the Armourer’s Gathering at Pennsic, right…the one that Clay Edgin of Darkmoor Armoury made the original scales for? Well, the bad news is, I didn’t have enough scales to finish it, and Clay said he cannot make me more. Consequently, I’ll be unable to finish my armour without them.

Is it possible that you could take a commission for two-hundred scales in 20-gauge stainless, and if so, for how much?

The scales measure 1 ½â€

Vladimir:

If we go to Pennsic next year (this is doubtful), I will bring it, if I can work something out for extra scales.

Hey Brian - I would be more than happy to help you out getting this done.

T-Bob - Do you have any scales that are not attached, or could be unattached? Having a model to go from for scale consistancy would be most excellent!

Wulfe:

I have about twenty-five of the scales loose, that haven't been attached yet. I'll bring them along to the MAG event in October.

My original plan was to wear this armour over my maille shirt, as "blunt-force trauma" protection in time for Pennsic, but it didn't happen. If I can get sufficient scales made, this will be what I wear for Pas' tournaments. For melee combat, I'll simply ditch the hauberk.

Brian:

Just read your e-mail--we have much to discuss. I will call you sometime tonight, after I finish packing the truck for Summer's End Tourney.

Tried you at your home number, but was unable to get you. Left a message on your machine. I'll be at Summer's End Tourney down by Ft. Knox tomorrow. I'll try you when I get home on Sunday.

Well, as Brian is looking at some impending real life issues (and is thereby unable to assist), I'm going ask an individual he recommended.

The quest goes on!
