The Armour Archive

This project is a bit of whimsy and randomness. I was going to make a pair of straight forward spaulders with 3 lames etc. Not being a straight forward kind of guy, i thought i'd go for something a little different.

They are based off a couple of images and a remaining plate found at Chalcis.

The pattern was one i drew up. After forming the basic spaulder shape i cut out the edge and fluted. Finally got the chance to use a new fluting stake i got a few weeks ago, works a treat!!

Looks like a nice start. Look forward to seeing them completed. I think it is nice sometimes to make something new. Thanks for the pictures!

I roughed in the other spaulder this evening and took some better photos which i have put in the photo album.

It definately is, a 10x8ft garden shed, just needs wiring and insulating and i should be good to start fitting it out, finally.

That is very cool Thomas! Are you going to do the fancy snail shell embossing on it like the ones in the Van Eyke painting? These are so very strange, it's great that you are doing them. I look forward to seeing them finished.

I think i'll leave the fancy embossing for the next pair, something like that is a little beyond me at the minute.
