size of my greathelm - pot helm
I have created my first helm, I wanted to get away from the bar-grill football helmet look of many sca kits so I created a flat top greathelm- salt shaker looking piece. I am afraid I made it to large, but for our group I am going to use it, it is 10" x 9" kind of oval shaped. I wear a 10 once usa boxing headgear underneath, and pad it with other foam, way above sca minimum, if I do some sca combat in it what type of push test can I expect, in other words what will my helm need to endure?

Much depends on where you're from.
In the Midrealm, you're required to have your helm (and chinstrap) designed to keep a thrust to the face from forcing the visor of your helmet from smacking you in the mouth/nose. Your padding should be sufficient to keep the helm from rocking around on your head (a snug but not painfully tight fit), yet allow enough room so that the visor is up against your face. A chinstrap with a chin-cup assembly would help immensely this way.
I yield the floor to anyone who is registered SCA marshal...
