Bone flute

I just finished my first try at a flute, made from a deer leg bone that my girlfriend found in the woods. It plays a scale from C to G, with a B bellow the C if I cover the bottom end halfway, and a G# if I overblow it. The tuning's not bad (surprisingly).

And here's a sound clip (I'm not playing a tune, just messing around and seeing what the flute can do): www.andrewwelton.com/boneflute/boneflut ... around.mp3

It was a lot easier to make than I thought it would be. Here's the tutorial I used (not very detailed): http://housebarra.com/EP/ep02/17vinstr.html

Now I've got to learn some tunes!

In college we had a totally different item in mind when we talked about the 'bone flute'.

Still, beautiful work.
