Sca Legal finger gauntlets.

Hi I'm a newly authorised heavy fighter and am still in the process of getting my kit together.

I've come across these http://armourandcastings.com/index.php? ... ductId=532 hourglass finger gauntlets and am wondering if anyone on this site has had experience with gauntlets of this type? What is the weight like, do they restrict movement much etc?

At 350 dollars they seem like a very good deal. If they work well it would cover my heavy and cut and thrust hand protection needs in one purchase.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to meeting some of you on the field.

Thanks in advance
Duncan.

I have similar gauntlets from Oak's Armoury (but slightly closer profile to the fingers). They splay the fingers a bit uncomfortably, but you can get used to them. They are about as heavy as any gauntlet out there. (I think mine are close to 2 lbs. ea. 16 ga stainless.)

They should be pretty much bomb proof, but probably too uncomfortable for cut & thrust, and a bit overkill for the required protection. They really excel for use on hafted weapons and spears.

Thanks Cian,

That really gives me something to think about. There don't seem to be many better options in that price range so I think I'm gonna go for them.

Polearm is my main interest in heavy fighting so I think they'll do nicely.

thanks for taking the time to respond.
