More boxy goodness

Working on more boxes to eliminate plastic and cardboard for camping stuff (Even though I had incorporated wooden chests into my Pennsic experience this year, several items were stowed in cardboard boxes to keep them protected). Specifically; my chess set and pewter pitcher.
These both need a little more work but the hardest parts are done. Both boxes are made of poplar. The gable topped coffer with the iron hardware is similar to my weapon locker, but the whole gable is on a hinge rather then just a single panel. It was finished in cherry and 5 coats of laquer. I one again chickened out on the clinch nails, and bought some pyramid headed black screws.
The other box is for my cast chess set. Since the box I made earlier this year was done in seperate woods, I decided to dye it ebony to hide the obvious grain differences. This box is actually 3 pieces; 2 stackable sections and a removable lid. Because the chess box has gold leaf gilding on it, I decided to try and match it with solid brass hardware. The ring on the lid is a brass diver's ring.
I'd like to eventually do a motto or biblical passage chemically etched into the strap hinges. Until I do, the hinge pins (steel) are just friction fit. I won't peen them until the very last thing.
**Edit** I forgot to mention these are all rabbit and dowel construction (but I cheated and used wood glue).
