My coate showed up, got HE hood, and a couple new pair of chasues (inc a red silk pair from revival) Gonna order a new belt blank or possibly a plaque belt later this week., which should fix most of the deficiencies. I have one question about the plaque belt, would I suspend my dagger/pouch from it or from a separate belt?

Not sure what you mean by a plaque belt (a leather or silk belt with attached plaques? a belt consisting all of interconnected metal plaques?), but from what I can tell (go to http://larsdatter.com/pouches.htm and especially the "Girdle Purses" section; if you look at the source code you'll see where I've noted which ones have knives) it sure looks like the dagger/pouch would be worn on the belt, with no need for multiple belts.

These are 15th century examples, of course, but they show how they're worn ...

If you mean the style of plaque belt discussed at http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=96841 -- I can't remember seeing anyone wearing a purse/pouch on a plaque belt, other than maybe http://tarvos.imareal.oeaw.ac.at/server ... 001066.JPG but I'm not sure exactly what's going on with that picture (a belt within a belt? look where it crosses over the scabbard). Whether this is because they're more prevalent on armored men, or noblemen (who'd have servants to carry around such tedious things for them), I'm not sure. But I don't think the answer is "two belts," here.

Yea that's the style I was looking at. So I guess I should skip the plaque belt until I buy some servants.

Just did some looking... and I don't have a single picture of me wearing my 15th century stuff. I'll have to get on that.

yes... there are a mutlitude of sins in this photo.... multitude.... I hold no sway over my shire mates... actually the guy in the kilt has come a long way.. as in he no longer wears the kilt!

Hee Well, the plaque belt's a pretty accessory for "minor nobility" (or nobility of any sort, really) and we do see some noblemen carrying this style of pouch (for example, this fellow in the Grimani Breviary may well have been the unknown nobleman who commissioned the work).

The plaque-belt detail I'd posted above is from this crucifixion scene; apparently similar plaque belts worn by two soldiers, one of whom has a girdle purse.

None of your shire mates are displaying VPL's

Though if that fella isn't wearing the kilt any more ... is he just going around in the sleeveless shirt and the shoes, nothing worn between the two?

It's a good pouch, honestly. And I'm not finding tremendous amounts of depictions of 14th century kings or noblemen with belt-purses/pouches of any sort, really.

(Most of the superfancy metal-bits-decorated and/or nifty-textile men's pouches & purses come up in the 15th century, really. There's also some kings' & noblemen's pouches at http://larsdatter.com/pouches-framed.htm -- there's some especially nifty ones in the section with the "spring-catch framed purses" header.)

But if you want to go fancy, and you know an embroiderer (or are willing to learn how yourself), check out the trapezoidal alms-purses at http://larsdatter.com/pouches-framed.htm ... spiff stuff, eh? Don't know of any shops selling these, though.

There's also another style of girdle purse that comes up in the 14th century -- use http://larsdatter.com/pouches.htm and there's a whole bunch of links to the Romance of Alexander. (IIRC there's a pattern in Purses In Pieces, but other than James B., I don't think I've seen a whole lot of examples at this scale on the market.)

Yea.. ehem... I am pretty sure those are my compression shorts beaucse I had just finished fighting... thought I will admit... i have yet to attempt wearing 15th cenutry underwear with my hosen...

and no that would be scary... reallly really scary... he actually has a number of very nice outfits now, mostly in the 14th century range. This picture was taken at all of those in the picture (minus me) first event.
