So I saw this stuff on ebay that looked very familiar.... it is costuming used in the movie "Alexander"... I contact the seller they sell costumes used in movies and TV shows.
What they had in each auction was not what I needed so I made my own package... which after some delays I received today...
Holy Smokes! it all looks really
REALLY good, it fits me, and I got 3 tunics, 3 cloaks, a pair of Greek leather boots (

) bracers, and best of all, a garb quality Linothorax for court (so I don't need to wear real armour in 90 degree weather...) All for something like $160 bucks.... with the added coolness that it was in the movie.... he he.... even the Greek Sandal-boots fit me...
They have stuff from The Other Boleyn, so if there are any Tudor personas out there, let me know and I'll put you guys in contact....
Yessssss

Awesome! I saw that stuff on there. Tons of it flowing in. You'll have to get some pictures up of the stuff.

Thanks for the link. Oddly, I hadn't taken the time to look at their store. Lots of cool stuff, but I can't get over the fact that I'm certain the materials used would disappoint me if I picked up any of the clothing. The "Persian Archer" outfit from Alexander is particularly neat, especially at the price...

p.s. When I mentioned pictures, I meant with you modeling, Glaukos! ;p

I need to adjust a couple of the cloaks. What I thought were cloak sized pieces of fabric are toga sized, and could be made into at least 3 chlamys, so I need to use judicious scissors and hem the edges... The boots need Vibram soles (they are used but in excellent shape. Well made but they clearly saw some action by the state of the sole. Nothing my shoe repair guy cannot fix...)
I may ask them for 3 more chiton tunics.... which is the garment I'd be using the most. All in all a great hit. I have spent more in one medieval garment than in this small wardrobe...

Boots $40 -$50 not sure when or where they would work persona wise.
Tudor outfits $125 - $150
Body Glove wetsuits $45 - $50
Not stuff I need but a great find Glaukos!

What materials did they use for the garb?

For the Greek stuff it was a combination of Cotton fabric from India (found a tag!) leather, leather lacing and some type of objectionable modern foam for the core inside of the linothorax, to make it light and rigid (but it remains hidden so it passes for me) . The outside the lino is cotton and leather, so it looks good on the outside. The garb excluding the armour looks extremely period inside
and out.
I have no idea about the Tudor stuff as I have not seen it.

And here I was going to wish you well and hope the other person involved was as happy too!
(Sounds like a great haul and usually the earlier you are in on something like that the better---until the "closeout" of course.)
It's Friday!

I just spoke to the person that helped me, and mentioned that it would be beneficial for them, and useful for us, if they offered here in the classified any items they had that may be related to Medieval and ancient themes.
With some luck they may start posting what they have under the Classifieds.
Also, since they have some really cool stuff, and we are pretty much a perfect target audience, I suggested that they offer as OOT stuff from other movies etc that may have fans among educated geekdom....
Just hoping everyone can find something they like, and ask questions directly to the vendor.
A well garbed SCA is a happy SCA....
