Specifically interested in the 14th Century but anything from 1250-1500 is solicited. I know belts came in leather and fabric and metal. Any other materials? Any use something other than a tongue buckle? What's the simplest authentic belt a person can make for this time period?

Absolute simplest?
Long belt, two slits cut in the end like buttonholes, parallel. On the other end, split the belt into two long thongs. Lace through the slits, tie. Dating is more along the lines of the 13th Century.

When I did a beggar impression I belted myself with a vine one time.
