Fur ID and use

Post by Jon »

I received some fur as a gift and I'm not sure what I should do with it. I do shoes specifically and 13th C. generally but I can venture out for fun stuff. I've included a pic because I don't know the species either. Any tips? I'm good with leather hand and machine stitching but I don't have any fur experience. As for quantity, two coats from a small woman. Thanks in advance.

Looks like raccoon- not a European species in period (if that matters).

Obviously you did not watch "The Last Legion".

The barbarians were loaded with racoon fur. Unless of course they hunted them out of existence. Maybe that's it. :)
