Later Period Medieval Needle Case

I needed a gift for my girlfriend. She does a later period (late 15th-16th century Italian (ie late 14s to early 15s)).
There has been a couple of threads lately on pins and bobbins. I decided that that was probably a pretty good direction to go for her as she enjoys sewing.
I had intended to get some reproduction pins for her, but time got away and I needed a new idea. I did some quick looking for later period medieval pin cases and found some links off of larsdatter. One link was to a photo of a case in the museum of london.

That with a few others ended up being the inspiration for what would be the gift.
The project involved brass tube and silver solder. The final product and a few construction photos are available here:
