With some luck I'm going to have my dad's old bench up and running in my shop, and the useless POS I've been putting up with on the street. The bench is laminated oak @ an inch and a half thick with fabricated angle iron legs and supports. Once the bench is up, this is going onto a corner

Its stamped "Whitney Manufacturing", it has a patent stamp dated 1910.
It's a model 20 which gives me hope that Roper Whitneys current model 20's punches, and dies are compatable, the ratchet drive #119 looks identical, the one on the punch is perfectly serviceable. I may order a new handle just to make the old boy complete - I don't see any reason why this tool can't give another century of so of good service.

I have had it for a while, haven't been doing a lot to speak of but got a massive burst of get off your ass and do something just before the weekend. It got a thurough cleaning, brush down, and oiling. At this point if it's raised fully, and "tapped" the punch will drive down all on its own.
It's kind of funny that the roper whitney XX which is sort of a gold standard is their "light duty" portable model

Is the handle an odd diameter? Will a piece of black pipe fit?
I have a RW#16 and I love the way it pings through 16ga 1050 and 304 stainless. Your #20 has even more muscle. Nice!

Black iron pipe will fit, I just kind of figure the old boy needs a full kit
I went through the Roper Whitney site and really hope some of the oval punches will fit - this tool can open up a lot of possabilities going forward
