Helm Y-chin strap tie question?

Post by Halberds »

I sent this:

to a LH client.
With this spangen helm:

Am I very close for Interpretive Re-creation?
Or have I led him astray?

The Goliath helm from the McBible is where I got the idea.

Hal,

While I'm positive the Y-strap configuration is documentable from several different sources, I personally have no idea as to whether the tieing arrangment is period... I'm not sure that's something we even can know for sure, but I'd love to know if someone knows otherwise. That being said, it looks perfectly plausible and very workable to me! (having must tried it on mine, and liking it much better than the way I usually do it! :) )

Thanks Glen, I wonder how Egfroth ties his on?
I have not seen the motorcycle helmet style; double D-ring in my books.
