Who wants to be in a booklet?

Post by MJBlazek »

Hi all!

I am in the process of teaching myself how to use Adobe InDesign and as a learning project for it I am attempting to put together a booklet of armor types for new comers of the group I belong to (a theatrical combat troupe) so they can get ideas of what they would like their kit to look like.

It is also a small way to help push the group into a more historical looking direction.

So what I am wondering is if anybody would like to volunteer a picture of themselves in armor and out of armor (soft kits) to help illustrate whats out there.

I would like to try and separate it all by Century, and dedicate perhaps a 6 page spread to each century.. early/middle/late.

Starting from the 10ce to 1600ce.

I would be willing to, if it comes out well, sell the books fairly cheap (just enough to cover printing costs) if there would be an interest after they are done.

Thanks Primus, that would be great!

You would be amazed, well maybe, not, how many people who join (then fade when they realize that it actually is work) and say something like: "Ohh yeah...I'm going to be all like Maximus from Gladiator."

Glad to provide you with my 1399 kit. (i'd say its circa 1400 but I don't want to be accused of representing the 15th century)

Seriously I can pull it back to 1380s or push it forward for Agincourt (1415) depending on what you need.

I can get you some merchant-level 12th century Crusader pics. I would also check out D. Sebastian's Warriors of History site (and then tell them to ignore bargrills).

I've put some photos up recently that should work for a 1380s-ish harness, the helmet is wrong place wrong time, though.

Hi,

PM me your e-mail address and I'll send some photos.

Darter the Chronicler has the best pictures, but it's his work, not mine.
