In the background, the man is reclining on a bed/couch that is remarkably like some period beds I have seen, and makes you wonder about where the model originated.

it shows a partially turned bed post, with sections cut and turned, with a mortise and tenon joint and what appears to be a spiral wrapped cloth tape on the header, suggesting a strap-based suspension for a thin mattress.
The actual paper has a better pic but I cannot copy it.
Just thought it was cool to share for the furniture buffs out there....
